Hi all, i have an irritating problem in that whenever i fill up with petrol (which is quite frequently) after about 5 minutes or so i get petrol pumping out via the filler cap and down the rear wing. This is made worse by any left cornering. Anyone any ideas as to a solution.
I was hoping ot sort it before i drive back to the UK this weekend.
Cheers,

Mick

sounds like a blocked breather pipe !

It's around the back of the tank - I think !

I had the tanks out over the winter and all the pipes are in good condition and unblocked. One thing i did notice and checked again last nigt is that i don't appear to have a breather pipe from either of the tanks. All the hoses connect to somewhere else. On the filler neck there are two pipes, the larger filler pipe and a smaller breather type pipe that goes to just below the cap level, presumably to let air escape whilst filling the tank.

this happened on my 280 2+2
I put a bigger breather pipe on (left side of tank) and fitted a chimaera filler cap
Job done
What does happen now (pulled a couple of times on track days) is under sever cornering forces the petrol can leak out of the bretaher!

Just dont follow me with a match

Cheers for that gemini, if i can find a place for a breather i'll fit one, in the meantime i'll get a Chimera filler cap.

Discussed last week. Yes there is a breather from the filler cap. Yes it will spill fuel unless you fit a one way valve in it on a track day on LH corners.

Frontera's have a non return valve on their breather as a matter of interest...

Thanks chaps, bit more investigation required tonight i think. I think mine leaks more from the actual filler cap, funny type of double cap arrangement on mine. Will take off the interior trim and try and find the breather pipe.
