You need to go on a 100 mile blast after doing so to check it's OK, off you go Steve :-)

To adjust the pads is a 5 min job (as long as you can remove the split spins easily). Basically jack up the back (remove the wheels if you want more access), remove the split pin on the side of the handbrake pad part of the caliper, tighten the big screw head until the pads lock, wind back so you can refit a new split pin, make sure the pads don't bind. Repeat on the other side.

The cable has a grease nipple - might be worth a squirt

thanks guys seems easy, read the bible.
thing is i went for the 100 mile blast first
then got it over the pit and had agood look around, the chassis is like new i cant beleive how good it is.wiped some of the waxiol off and the white paint is like new, im well chuffed.
theres abit of oil on the steering rack,it makes a whining noise now and then, not on full lock, looks like a new one will be needed for the test.
every thing else looks great.
i will try to get around adjusting the hand brake, tomorrow night.need to get it sorted out for friday.

i have sent the email for gang on the green,if i get tickets i might stay friday saturday, more drinking time

Steve,
Have you not tried moving the brick closer to the back wheel?
Seriously though the car sounds fantastic, the chassis being so good is such a bonus.
In the unlikely event that the handbrake pads look a bit dodgy they are off a Jaguar xj# etc.
You had better go on another 100 mile test drive now!!

Gareth.

Steve, don't expect to much from the hand brake, they don't seem to work that well. Once you've ajusted up the pads you may need to adjust the cable. Mine has never worked that well until I stripped down the auto adjusting mechanism. I think this generally gets ignored and may be why many aren't that good.

Have to say that both mine have been fine, well the first one was after the handbrake pad was put in. Just regular adjusting checking.

Gotcha. Mine was a can't see problem.
Tried a cusion or 2, might be cheaper than new/second hand ones.
