I had a problem locating a water thermostat housing.
I was able to find a replacement part from a company called "Four Seasons" the part # is 84861- water outlet.

It is not exactly the same, the bypass is 90 degree off and a slightly smaller diam, but it works. It matches on the water pump side exactly. It does require a longer 6mm bolt in one hole due to a casting difference.
This is directed at US wedgies as that part is difficult to locate here.

Hi Jeff,

I replaced my stat housing not so long ago. ended up raiding my local scrappy 'cos I couldn't find a new one the same. I did get hold of a new one with one of the three 'ears' at a slightly different angle, but that meant the bolt holes didn't line up with those in the casing. Good to know for future reference!

Don't s'pose you happen to know what the front shocks are originally off on the 280 do you? Just had mine MOT'd and the front nearside is knackered and I'm having trouble sourcing a new one. Thats all it failed on - So near and yet sooo far!!!

Steve,
That is probably the cause of the tire wear you had.
Make sure you change both the fronts, shocks are allways changed in pairs.
KYB or Monroe should be able to give you a part # suitable for a 280i, try their UK web sites.
