Wedge Header Tanks / ScreenWash Tanks etc
Discussion
Does anyone know what donor car was used on the 400's for the Header Tank, expansion Tank and Washer fluid resevoir ?
also, has anyone replaced theirs with an alloy one ?
I notice that the white 450SE at Bruntingthorpe has alloy header tank .... anyone here know any details ?

The header tank I believe is Ford Granada/Capri, i'm not sure about the screen washer bottle but I have seen a very similar in Vehicle Wiring Products catalogue.
I had noticed the alloy header tank too, certainly looks nice and has the inlet/outlet pipes on the correct side!
It was something I was going to get made in the near future, but if someone already has the pattern and maybe a bulk order......
Andy.

Hmmm and held together with sticky backed plastic ?
Steve, the more secrets you reveal about the 520 the more I feel Blue Peter had a hand in its design !

Seriously .. TR7 eh ? great thanks.
The original TR7 one split on a Saturday night before a sprint on the Sunday. Found said peanut storage jar in Garage waiting to be used so cut a hole and used it. I have a couple of TR7 replacements I picked up from a scrappy but they are heavier, and not as easy to fill as the jar. Also had more importent things to play with. Not as if it makes the car faster.
Just to confuse matters, the washer bottle on my 83 Tas 200 is from a Capri.
I had an alloy header tank made by a guy in Yorkshire. The quality is superb. I made up a template from cardboard and took it to him to copy. I came back to pick it up a couple of hours later.
I enquired about making a replacement washer bottle and he seemed to think this wouldn't be a problem.
I can post pics details if anyone is interested.

yes please ... more interested in prices too
Dammit.... wish I had a TIG welder. I fancy an alloy header tank myself (hadn't thought about matching washer bottle though!).
Alas I have more pressing probs: just discovered that about 2/3 of the copper fins on my rad have been shotblasted to hell by crud coming off the road. I've been working on cars since I was 12 and I've never seen this before. Time for a recore, I guess, since I've no doubt the rad is a TVR special so no point in rooting in breakers. The only reason I've never noticed the damage before is that I never achieved the requisite contortions to see up behind the spoiler!

Jason,
Hans Dalahausen (He's details are on the Wedge pages ads), does a Grif type header tank for the Wedge. It suposedly bolts onto the front of the engine and does away with the standard wing mounted unit and reduces the number of pipes. He told me these are £125.
Mind Steve's offer sounds good.

Taken a pic of the header tank. I now realise I don't know what to do with this. I seem to remember someone saying that you had to upload it to a website somewhere, but this isn't an option for me.
A few weeks ago I seem to remember searching the forums, but I can't seem to find that option either.
Any help appreciated.
