I'm in the process of up-grading my Tas 350i at the moment. Next on the list is a brake up-grade. I've been re-searching a few different routes to do this. I'm not interested in mega-money AP/Tarox etc, as I feel this would be over kill (and frankly I'm skint ).
I've spoken to Peninsula, RT Racing and Tower View. All seem to be suggesting similar things (grooved, vented disc's new standard calipers [currently running solid disc's]). The only slight difference seems to be T.V. who suggest 300mm disc + spacers. I love the idea of huge disc's behind the wheels.
I was just wondering if any seasoned Wedge owners have any other suggestions or advice.

Thanks in advance

Gavin and 350i

I have tried and failed, so far, to get the AP four pot type from a wedgie Austin Princess so I am going to fit 390 vented discs and calipers which I understand can be retro-fitted to a 350i. I may use grooved discs, don't know yet.

There are details of a brake conversion on the wedge pages. The 390 discs are from a Granada estate.

I'm not a seasoned wedge owner, but can confirm that previous owner of my 350 has fitted grooved/vented discs with fast road/competition pads and has used the car regualrly for track days. Discs are still like new.

Much the same route for me a few years ago. Went with Wedge/RT grooved solid disks and standard pads on the rear and mintex 1144 on the front(while ago so I think it was them). All after advice given and very good. Also advice was due to the fact I may have wanted to do a few tracks a year but not a great deal.

Hi, I've just had fitted the front ventilated discs, larger granada calipers and all round stainless steel brake hoses to my wedge. I know this is far from the ultimate upgrade, but it has made a big difference to the feel and effectiveness of the brakes. The originals were probably past their sell-by-date. The total cost of new outright parts (excluding brake hoses)was about £150.00 - all ordered through my local Topspeed motor factors.

Installed 300mm vented discs (groved) and 4-pot callipers(Hi-spec motorsport - comes as kit). With EBC Green Stuff (fast-road) pads.
Chuffed to bits with it.
These discs fit (just) in my standard 15" wheels on my 350i. Best upgrade I could find (with help of another TVR-enthousiast), without going the AP or Brembo route.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I've decided to go with the 300mm upgrade. Only problem being it needs to be done by 09/05/03 so I'd better get my self in gear.

Rob

Who did your convertion? I'd be interested to know how much work was involved.
E-mail on gavinr79@hotmail.com if you want to discuss of board.

Thanks again

Gavin,
If you haven't got going yet give Hans Dalahausen a call/mail (see Wedge pages ad's) as he had some brake upgrade kit for sale when I last saw him. My experience is that the HiSpec motorsport route for getting a "fit a 15" wheel - granada" set-up was good value but I had to cancel my order after waiting >28 days when twas suposedly a week turn round! I have gone with the TV kit.
