Handbrake cable replcement

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me whats involved in replacing a 280 handbrake cable, and where I might get one. It appears mine has stretched beyond the adjustable limit of the bolt that runs between the two calliper operating arms.

I can't find any mention of how to do this in the 'bible' and I've adjusted the pads up as far as I dare, without them binding.

P141 in the bible. Watch out for the cable latch thingy to hold the outer just behind the lever. Easy to miss. Worth greasing before putting in.

It's more likely that the automatic adjuster no longer works. Had the same problem with mine, and peninsula welded on a bit of extra sleeve (a standard mod they do). Have you also screwed the pads up tight to the discs, and backed off so you can get the split pin back in.

Yep, I've adjusted the pads up, but can't get any more adjustment on the threaded bolt on the calliper end of the cable. The adjusting nut is threaded on as far as it will go!?!

Check the "driver end" of the handbrake cable.
If you find something amiss don't forget to un-adjust the two nuts at the rear.

How easy is it to disconnect from the driver end. Can you do it all from under the car, or do you have to remove upholstery etc. This was the bit I couldn't find in the bible.

Take the central console off and you should be able to get to the handbrake. Failing that it is drop the exhuast time.
