Does anyone know the difference between a standard Rover SD1 engine and the 350i engine? Is the compression different? Different duration cams?

The 350i is the Rover Vitesse unit , identicle, "straight out of the box". this is is slightly different to the other Rover variants.
TVR get a few extra bhp because of better exhaust manifolds.

I believe the 350i had a standard SD1 Vitesse engine, with TVR exhaust - 190bhp

There must have been a few changes for the 350i series 2? The S1 was quoted at 190bhp and the s2 at 197bhp. Same torque figures though - from memory.

They are the same engine. the 197 figure is with the fabricated manifolds the first 350 (demo) had a cast one.

There is a piccy in J Tiplers book with a twin carb 350 and cast manifolds going in. I assume the carbs were replaced as per text?
