Chaps, trying to get my 86 350 s2 on road for summer and sort out various niggly problems. The passenger window rattles like hell when roof down and on investigation all looks o.k , do the guides in the doors literally wear out?.
Also the door lock mechanism rods have sheared at the plastic connection points in the door. Are these Ford Capri or a Tvr special?
Any advice would be really appreciated

The locks and handles are Cortina, not sure about the rods that connect to the lock, but Cortina would be a good bet.
The window guides do wear. I have replaced them twice in 10 years. The last time I replaced them (2 years ago) I struggled to source the correct profile. I have seen threads that say it's available from motor trimmers but I could only find profiles that were similar, not exactly the same. RT (Wedge) supplied the correct stuff.

Mine does the same. I find that dropping the window about half an inch virtualy cuts it out, and there is still no gap round the front edge, so no draft (not from there, anyway!)

I got the correct size and profile of rubber/ felt insert for the door glass channels from Paul Beck Vintage Supplies, North Walsham in Norfolk, a few years back. They're still around, may be worth a try.

My passenger window was very noisy and I noticed the glass was banging against the metal at the top trailing edge of the door. I glued a small piece of rubber on there with evostick, and the first time I use the window it fell off!

However the thin layer of glue that is left has stopped the rattle!

I think "They all do that Sir". I tried gluing a thin piece of rubber to the aluminium guide at the top. Mine fell off the first time too! I ended up filing the metal away, but it wasn't the answer.
Sold it now so don't care! (miss it though...........)
