Excuse the pun but if anyone has any bright ideas I'd be grateful..........
Was putting Brm Brm away the other night and popped up the lamps as usual so I dont hit the washing machine. RH lamp behaves as normal but the LH starts to run continually up and down, even with the ignition off. The only way I could stop it was to take the fuse out!
Thought it might be the limit switch in the motor sticking so fitted another motor - when I connected it up it lowered then rose 2/3 of the way and stopped. have just put the known good RH motor in its place and it is also doing the same. With the fuse in it lowers then raises 2/3 and stops. Switching the lights on makes it lower again and raise back to the same place - as does switching them off again. With the fuse in but ignition off manually raising it to the top again causes it to lower and come back to the 2/3 point. Have also put a spare relay in - makes no difference. HELP!!

Sounds like you may have actually fixed the fault, then created another!
Have you had the cranked lifing arms off the gearbox output shafts, then put them back on 180 degrees out?
I note you've had several probs with the lights on your car: I wonder if there's anything different about the control electrics with it being a SEAC? I have a revised headlamps circuit to go on Wedgepages, just waiting for Mike to clear his backlog before I send him any more work!

Hmmm - hadn't thought of that - I suppose I could have fitted 2 good motors on with the gearbox in the wrong orientation as I find it easiest to disconnect the motors at the output shaft - will go and have another play now.
The motor that played up was the one I changed just befor Xmas so if you are right I guess its suffering from infant mortality. As far as I can tell the wiring is standard 350 - I have a factory wiring diagram and have also used the Wedgepages diagrams to help.
Will report back.......

Thanks Ian, you were right, the motor was 180 degrees out, both are re-fitted and working as advertised. Just hope this one lasts longer than the last one!
Make sure you ask me for a beer next time you see me!

PS. An easy mistake to make and probably worth a mention in Wedge pages or any re-issue of "the bible"!!
