suspension settings
Discussion
I've just finished replacing the compliance and rollbar/droplink bushes on my 1984 350i with some nice polybushes. I marked off the old settings on the tiebars and put them back fairly close to what they originally were (although the old bushes were pretty shot). What should my next course of action be? Should I get one of these 4 wheel alignment thingies done? I took it to my local tyre place, but they could only do the toe in/out which they said was OK. I haven't had a chance to fully test drive it yet, as there's still one more job to do before the MOT retest, though I did drive it round the block a few times to check it, and it seems to be OK. Does anyone know the settings for caster/toe in/out for a normal road setting/any other setting i should know about for the front suspension because i am a numpty when it comes to this sort of thing? Any advice/info gratefully received .....
Yes, get the "4 wheel alignment thingie"
It´s a sportcar, not a beach buggy...
Front:
Toe in(mm) 3.2 +- 1.5
Camber(deg) 0+-0.5
Kingpin(deg) 6 incline
Castor (deg) 3.0 +- 0.5
Back:
Toe in(mm) 4.5 +- 1.5
Camber(deg) 0.5+-0.5
All according to steves book.
I´ve set MY car up with some more
caster and camber though..
