Morning all
Well, finally removed the gearstick from my (4speed) box and found the cause of much sloppyness. A round nylon bush that the gearstick passes through. It crumbled into many bits when I looked at it! Any ideas who may supply one? Ford look at me blankly and others don't seem to sell little bits like this :-( I don't really want to buy a new gearbox to fix the prob...........

cheers
Dave

I might have one from a 4 cylinder Ford box - it is probably the same.

If you mail me a photo I will compare it.

Any other ideas from people? Found a reverse light switch with David Gerald (cheers ) but not the gear lever bit :-(

Anyone know the name of the box used? Ford one I guess but model name? My guess is a type 5 box..............

I have a brand new unused gear lever from a Ford 2.8 capri 4 speed gearbox. I bought it from an autojumble but never got round to using it on my old 280 FHC, you can have it if you want for nowt. Not too far from you and I could deliver to York no problem. Rather let you have it than wait for it to become an antique !!!!

Thankyou Nige

Capri is the source of the box then. Could either do a cut 'n shut of the gearlever in TVR style or just move the bush over if it will. Either way, cheers :-)

Would be too cheeky to ask you to drop it off though, unless you're after a look at the beastie?!

How far away are you? Could have a ride out on m'bike?

cheers

Dave,

I am in Darlington, so not far away. Can drop the Item off to you on monday PM if you want. Email me where you are, or if you want a trip out on your bike I will be around this weekend. Either way, no problems.
