Wedge replacement Bulbs
Discussion
After weeks of searching, I found the alternative to replacing all the bulbs in my TVR.
The Answer, Super High Intensitty LEDS.
Available in Red, White or Yellow, they replace all standard bayonet fitted bulbs. These run cold, are not suseptable to shock, temperature water etc. Just the thing for TVR's!.
side by side, when fitted to the rear light clusters, they provide a brighter whiter light than standard fillament bulbs.
The only downside is the cost .... 3x the price of a bulb in Halfords (But they are supposed to last 10x as long)
Im also looking to fit one in the fibre optic pot and see if it improoves the interiour illumination.

I emailed them they said, and car with negative earth will take them.
The only problem I have found is that the indicators, although very yellow, and visible need a dummy load on them as there is very little current being used. (the flasher unit has a fit(as iff a bulb has blown)).
I have ordered twice from there, the first time i was fine, the second time, I got caught by customs ... £30 inspection tax ! bastards !)
They also doo double terminals for stop & Tail setups

Ahh rumour is right.
I have just done away with the old Cibie H4's and fitted a nice set of Quad Lamps.(as fitted to Tuscans/Tamora's etc and retro fitted by Zertec ).
Having worked out what goes where, They are finished off with a plate of Carbon to hide the mountings etc.
Peninsula worked with me to develop them, there is a bit of fabrication that needs to be done to the existing light pods to mount the lamps securely.
Price wise, it has cost me over £500 with various mountings being tried and tested (the lamps alone came in at £220 Plus Vat).
Will take some pix and post them tomorrow.

Jason, did you consider trying to mount them at the bacl of the pod space, so that they didn't need to pop up at all? Using a perspex cover to fill in the hole. I think Steve has done something similar on his 520, any pics available Steve?
They do look good though. How much better are they than the originals?

The Wedge front looks good with the 'lids' closed, I'm not sure I'd like to replace them with perspex covered 'holes'.
Interesting idea though - mount the lights into the back of the space (a la Steve Heath), and keep the popups!

The lights are definatly 100% better than the origionals. mine need fine tuning to incxrease the road that is illuminated, but even mis adjusted, they produce a whiter cleaner (non yellow) light. The Main Beam (with the side light looks the dogs too, plus when in use, it does illuminate the road very well. Just what is needed to encourage other road users to switch off their fog lights or to just dip their headlights.
I was also looking into other pod designs. I didnt like the perspex route ... it looks too cheap. I thought of a set of square lights as in the BMW 800 series, but these require different shaped pods. I also thought about mounting the lamps in the pod and sculpting the pod around the lamps to produce a Speed12 effect, and covering the lot with poly carbonate or armoured glass. this however needed specialist equipment to fabricate and i donot have acces to vacuum formers / injection mounders any more.
I did email TVR Body Shop / Zertec, but no one returned my calls.
