As part of my current chassis replacement project I am overhauling some of the items removed from the car - including brake callipers.
I recently had trouble locating a source of front brake calliper pistons as they are no longer listed/stocked by LUCAS/Delphi/Lockheed.
Seals kits are available (listed under Austin Princess)

I was advised they are hard to get and did not manage to find any after trying a number of TVR specialist sources.
I eventually located a source of piston supply at CLASSICAR AUTOMOTIVE in Cheshire
www.classicbrakes.co.uk
Tel 01625 860910
They currently have the Austin Princess pistons in stock, and are sending me a set.

Great news. How much did they sting you for the calipers?

Pettsie,

Cost £68 (excluding delivery) for set of 8 pistons - which is what I needed as I got seal kits from my local Lucas depot - Lockheed part no LK12614 (kit for one calliper).
Classicar may do complete callipers - worth a phone call if you are looking for a set.

Hamish,

Tried them, no luck. I will keep trying though. Looks a bit like the holy grail!!!

Pettsie,

When I was looking for pistons, my local Lucas outlet suggested trying "Past Parts". They have a website <www.pastparts.com> and apparently specialise in finding hard to get parts. I did not try them as I had success with Classicar Automotive

Happy hunting

hi, i made the mistake of reconning my four pots using bits from rimmer bros in lincoln (01522 568000)pistons are about £10 each for stainless steel items and the seal kit is about £13 a side, they work perfectly but i only found out afterwards that a motor factors in lincoln called tanvics (01522 534830) sell them for about £65 each inc vat and these do apear to be very well reconditioned, and they are also plated to make them a goldy colour, wish i knew that before i bothered to take mine to bits.
