racing history on the seac
Discussion
"The SEAC raced so succesfully in 750 club events that it was rapidly banned. Cars with 165 mph top speeds and outlandish acceleration just didn't give other competitors a chance, so TVR produced it for the road."
Taken from my highly cherished August 1994 SPRINT magazine, A SEAC special Edition magazine of over 100 pages, mainly about the great car itself.

I gave Tony Conner a load of info towards a big SEAC article (which will appear in Sprint soon) it included loads on the history of racer, inc some nice pics.
Basically it "wiped the floor" with the opposition and was subsequently banned on homologation grounds, there was only one and is now owned by Jeff Statham, who sadly isn't on line. he has restored it to a very high standard, and is still driven in anger around many curcuits (its not road legal)

Not sure mate. I was lucky to find this 1994 edition on EBAY and bid my way to win it. It ended up at £20.00 but being a TVR fanatic, I knew it was worth it! You need to be a member of the TVRCC to get current issues and they dont sell it in newsagents.
The car was only ever raced by Steve Cole AFAIK. Car went out to Macau in Nov '87 with Steve. My dad went with him driving the Cosworth powered S. Cars took 1st 2 places with the Cossie starting at the back and annihilating everything. Organisers of that race got pissed off too because neither were road cars.

Some additional facts:
1) The 420 SEAC was built in Feb 86 and campaigned in '86 season with great success winning 19 out of 24 races before being banned.
2) 420 SEAC cars have 300 bhp although one has 355, one 327 and the racer 360 bhp. 450's have 325 bhp.
3) SEACS are 2 inches wider and 7 (seven) inches shorter than a 390SE.
4) Not all SEAC's were Aramid Composite as name suggests as most are GRP or a mixture of the two. Only the first dozen or so cars were built with Kevlar of which only 3 are left. {This was from 1986!}
Oh my God, I've turned into an anorac !
The above quotes are from Sprint so if you disagree, tough, I cant be held responsible !!!
