85 280i Radiator Hoses
Discussion
Ok sorry I will try to put some context to my words.
Any part numbers in the main are of little use, as they were specific to TVR and the car in question. You are trying to reference parts taken from various cars parts bin, and given new numbers in-house at TVR.
Generally it is a case of hunting around finding an old OEM part that is similar or the same, then trying to find the part (even that is easier said than done).
Parts in general for 30+ odd year old cars are getting harder to find, even in the UK.
Added to that specific parts are made only for and by TVR. I have found that for example my replacement water pump although Rover based had a few different types, having found what I was after, I eventually found the part in a Triumph restoration shop locally selling new old stock spares (just so happened they had it after many emails and calls to others, without success).
I also had a similar problem recently with front lower spring rubbers, you will see the outcome within the forum. I tried a modern cheap alternative, it stopped the metal on metal rubbing, but due to thickness ruined the ride height by some half inch or so.
I appreciate the task for you is made that much worse, by the sheer low numbers in the States (low for the UK even). I point you in the direction of auto parts places, for general items, that are not specialised, as it seems that the resto market for your classics is huge compared to here.
It is probably more likely that will find a nearby similar style part off the shelf, than getting parts from UK. Even if you managed to find the correct number, the likelihood is it would not be referenced. Hence me pointing you in the direction of Burton Power, they are a reproduction Ford specialist (at a premium price). And a good source of reference.
We have large chains of auto stores over here, one is called "Euro Car Parts" however unless the car is no older than say 6 years and no newer than a year, they struggle. Mention TVR, they say nice car (sometimes the younger ones say what car mate) then fall about laughing, when you ask for a spare part, even if you know the original donor vehicle.
Being of a certain age, a lot of thinking outside the box, as to what engine/part fitted to what bits across platforms, even in modern cars. UK Ford Kuga (Escape in the States I think) in my case had a Peugeot engine. Hence my reference to the Mercury Capri previously, although they were probably low volume also I believe.
In short, I do understand your frustration with parts, it is just the same or similar here. In some instances a lot of trial and error.

the main radiator hoses can be adapted by using standard silicon hoses and joints.
some more specific hose near the plenum with its curves and bents should be still avalable from Ford or companies specializing into historic Fords.
the US K-Jetronic is not so much differtent than the European version.
this said, even the bigger radiator hoses should bei Ford Items.
Ford Granada, Capri, Taunus (Cortina) would bea good starting point.

Does anyone have some part numbers for radiator hoses here for US spec ‘85?
Thanks
Does the US spec car use the upright radiator that's in the engine bay or the nosecone mounted one? Thanks
If it's the former you'll get hoses from team blitz. Capri top and bottom hoses from a 2.6 or 2.8 will fit.
