New 390SE owner :-)
Discussion
Hi, the silver and wheel combo looks great. I had a black and gold 390SE with a John Eales original engine, but now moved on to a 450 SEAC. Vast majority of the old PH Wedgers have migrated to Facebook, to avoid keyboard trolls. Then several fell out, so there are now three FB Wedge groups. Personally I only contribute to the TVR Wedge Owners group, but each to their own. Cheers Keith
Nice! I've often wondered about these. There was a red one for sale recently, a tuned 4.2, looked very tempting. What are they like to drive?

The engine on mine was fantastic and loved to rev. Mine kicked out just shy of 250bhp with its original 3.9 litre engine. It had been upgraded with fully polybushed suspension and uprated springs and shocks, and to be honest it handled great but was quite harsh. My previous 350i running rubber bushing was lovely, but TBH my current 4.5 litre SEAC is fantastic to drive but I have softened the adjustable shocks to suit. Given the suspension is a mix of Cortina and Mk 2 Granada on the front, and modified XJS on the back, they do go remarkably well on the twisty bits.
Nice: that looks, like mine, to be a very late Series 1 (although the waters are a little muddy regarding arch flares etc.) - at one of the Wedgefests I was parked next to the car with chassis number two after mine and that was definitely a Series 2 with the right wheels, rounded front airdam, sills and the 'economy' rear wing/bumper unit that became part of the 400SE shell.
Mine showed at 256bhp/280 lb. ft. on the mobile dyno at Wedgefest 2010 - on Tesco 95 RON
It drives much the same as other wedges although acceleration is a little down as the original owner specced the 3.31:1 LSD for better cruising. PAS always a bonus.
Mine also has cruise control which was never a factory option, I adapted the SD1 and RangeRover parts to make it work with the TVR's cable-driven speedo.
Polybushes have a habit of making any car's ride harsh, I'd give them a wide berth on a wedge unless it was a track car.
The wheels on the car above were used on the Series 2 and the boot spoiler was from the later 400SE; arguments galore have raged over what might or might not have been available as options if you waved enough money at Wheeler, but it's likely that those wheels and spoiler are retro-fits by later owners. And there's nothing wrong with that: at least they are 'correct' for a wedge, unlike some of the aftermarket stuff you see fitted.
