Is it worth it to add a fuel filter just before the pump to be sure no sediment enters the pump?

Can't see any harm in belt and braces, providing the flow is not restricted.

There is a filter in the swirl pot which is very fine. My fuel pump also has a mesh filter built into the inlet. With those and a large filter just after the fuel pump, I am not sure if it will do anything? Can't hurt though!!

Many years ago I experienced fuel pump failure due to dirt.
I fitted a "bullet" filter from Demon Tweeks between the swirlpot and the fuel pump.
Originally this had a paper filter element but this restricted fuel flow at low fuel tank levels and high engine power.

I replaced the paper element with a mesh element (available as an option for the filter unit)
The mesh allows good fuel flow and is still fine enough to protect the pump.

The normal cartridge filter after the pump remains in place as it is finer and protects the fuel injection system.

This arrangement has worked well for about 20 years.
