As the title,

Sorry if this has been covered before...
I did have a good search to see if block core (freeze) plugs, can be removed easily with the engine in the car, didn't come up with much.
Anyhow long story short, I eyed it up as best I could, seemed a goer. Despite the mass of girders, they are fine to replace, well drivers side so far in any case. As per normal few of bits to remove, once out of the way a pretty quick job

Remove the following:
Engine mount
Starter
Exhaust Manifold

Spin old core plugs out.
Find a suitable socket that fits the cup, add a thin layer of sealant around the edge of the new plug, put together a set of socket extensions pass through the chassis and tap in with a hammer.

If I remember correctly, core plugs are installed by a sharp tap in the centre as they are slightly dished, and this helps to spread them out into the edges of their recess.

Yes that is correct it does take a sharp whack or 2 to get them in fully seated.

Not all plugs are dished. Some have sides so can be drifted in wih a socket.
