For a 1987 350i, which pinion seal is right?

AEU2515R

Or

CBC6923

Or does it matter? Both are calloed up as used on Jag Salisbury diff's and also for Land Rovers but there is never any indication of which is used where and why!

I have replaced my old one with the AEU2515R but it leaks and I didn't really take much notice of what type the original was as by the time I had got it out it was rather mangled!!!

Hi I'm just about to do mine and bought the seals from Martin Robey for a jaguar.
It's the bottom seal not the land rover one if that helps.

CBC6923..here is a link. They do not have a counter as such, but I have called and then been able to collect them in the past. A@

Thanks for the replies! I had used the seal at the top and it leaked. I couldn't work out why really but I now have my diff out on the bench so I am doing pinion and output shaft seals as well as brake caliper piston seals. Access is a dream when the diff is out of the car but it is without question the single heaviest item I have ever had to lift!!

I'm in the process of doing all the seals on my diff and putting on new brake calipers and rebuilding the handbrake assembly.

I looked around and found the best place to get all the parts was from Martin Robey in Nuneaton.

If you look on there website under the e type jaguar you can get detailed breakdown drawings of all the assembly's and prices for each of the items that you may need. When you strip the output shafts be careful that you don't damage the outer bearing i found a place that does these for £8 each.

You can collect or they will deliver and the prices are very reasonable.

I looked at a number of places and this was the easiest way of doing it.

I agree with your comment about the weight i'm lucky that mine is on a four post ramp but still blooming heavy to move about and lift back into place.

I had a similar problem with the seals leaking. Replaced the bearings solved the problem.

Nice useful info.

To save time I found the link to the Martin Robey differential page,
