Looking for a new ignition switch for my 280i. Pretty sure it's a land rover part, but wanted to make sure I got the right one as it's out of stock at TVR parts.

Anyone know what it's off or what the part number is?

Pictures can be sent too

Land Rover Defender 90 or 110.

PRC8230R

If you google that part number it brings up the whole barrel if you want to change that or just the switch if you want to save money and just change that. It's just a standard Lucas part. You will even recognise the keys!

My thoughts are that early 280i are TR7 ...and that 90-110 LR is a bigger over all size (looks the same in a picture) . A picture of the column would help (as my '86 280DH is the later SD1 column). THEN both are soldered on connections that perhaps plugs will not fit under the cowl. I have added a picture of the wired switch (sat behind me in my office) that is Triumph 1500/1980, 3000S (same lower cowl as the early 280i and TR7)

Not really. They don't even list Land Rover, let alone TVR!

And the Triumph link is a red herring as this video proves. It's the Land Rover part that I said i was, as the video also shows.

That video is the SD1 version...early is TR7, middle SD1 and late from Granada/Scorpio... the OP needs to post pictures.

Here is a picture of my '86 SD1 original ignition which has all soldered joints (the video is a bodge, the guy needs to buy in the right part. I'm even going to say that the part he removed in the video had already been replaced previously and that too was a bodge, so you cannot blame him). A@

Thanks all for the advice!

In the end I found this: which was identical to what I had: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223977425748

As many people mentioned, they used a load of different ones, but this seems to have been the standard for the early models (mine is 83)

As I said, 3 versions. The Ebay listing will disappear so... early is TR7 (buy in the correct Lucas Rists TTS connectors as from memory the Triumph plug is male/female incorrect) A@
