350I FRONT BODY WONT ALIGN?
Discussion
Hi guys,
Would like a few opinions on an issue I gave found with a 350i s2 I've recently bought to restore.
Prior to buying it it had some chassis work done replace the side body fixing plates on the outriggers and they, look to have been done to a good standard.
Other than some normal light surface rust to mainly the back chassis sections, the chasdis tubes all seem solid particularly st the engine end as previous oil leaks have coated a lot of the chassis tubes do kept them in v good condition.
THE ISSUE is that the front body section is not correctly aligned in that it is around 18mm too far left to the passenger side of the car shown by the fact that the drivers side top crossmember fixing point, with the hole in it for a bolt to attach into the body, is clearly visible - see pics. The same point on the passenger side is therefore too far under the body edge and this can also be seen when the wheels are on as the passenger side wheel sits just proud of the wing arch whereas the drivers wheel fits just inside the drivers being arch?
Having removed the engine and box today I have checked the classi tubes Ll along the front section and there is no signs of any collision damage, or re welding having taken place ?
I have taken out all the body bolts, seatbelt bolts, and disconnected the steering rack shaft, front to back, most were already out when it was bought, and tried to push the body over slightly to realign it but it doesnt wont to move ??
Any help would be appreciated,
Cheers

Well it's been a while since I did a similar job but from memory that isn't a body alignment bracket. I think it was where the oil filter was located. If it was under the body in that location you wouldn't be able to do up any bolts?
If you have the body support bolts underneath aligned the footwell and the ones at the rear also aligned then the front is where the front should be.
As with all TVRs there were undocumented revisions so I can well image the chassis has bits from a previous version left unused.
Below is hopefully a photo of my chassis showing the brackets/lugs either side that I am talking about. I think when I replaced the body I just put some rubber between the two.
