SUFFIX C ENGINE?

Hi all,

I've recently bought a 1986 350i wedge and am wondering why the engine in it has a suffix "c" engine number?
I cant find much info about suffix c engines so can anyone give me any info on why my engine has the c suffix on the engine number?
Whst is the difference of a c engine compared to a suffix b engine?

I have a 1988 TVR350i and my engine number is 37AxxxxC so I too have a suffix C. I just had a good internet trawl but I can find nothing on the C suffix. The 37A part is right for a 350i though. Mine is all original as far as I know.

Yes same here, seems difficult to find info on what a suffix C engine number means ??
Would still like to understand its significance though !

I remember looking some time ago, I gather the 37A means its for a 350i, guess the next few digit are a form of serial number but the C bit remained a mystery. I looked on the rover v8 forums and there was just a few people asking the same question.... But my 350i is the same 37A*****C
