An MoT on a 40+ car is a good thing if you want to sell a car IMHO. It demonstrates it's a good car.
One of my cars is over 40 and I don't have it tested. As an enthusiast I regularly check tyres, lights, suspension, brakes etc and any half decent driver knows if the bushes are going by the 'clonk.'
A lot of over 40 year old cars are now going through classic auctions having had no test for many years. Buyers need to be careful.
The Tasmin mentioned will be MoT exempt the moment it reaches 40, but will only be exempt VED from April 1st the year AFTER it is 40. Presuming it still rolls forward of course..... Unless you can prove it was manufactured in 1982, it will be VED exempt in April 2024.

Thanks for that, it answers my question, so another MOT will happen ...... just to keep things 'complete'.One of my cars is over 40 and I don't have it tested.
