Hi Guys,
Just need a little info on the suppressor that is wired to the fuel pump? I am replacing my pump with a new one. When unbolting the pump and accumulator the suppressor fell to pieces (wire broke off). Could someone please enlighten me as to what part no. this may be? Is it readily available? A specific part or is it really needed? 350I Model.
Thanks!!!!

I suspect it is something someone has added during the cars life to reduce radio interference?

Does it look a bit like this, or may be round if it's an old one?

No suppressors on any of mine, but as I never use the radio there's no issue. In the old days I used to have suppressors on just about everything electrical on my old capri, to help stop the radio buzzing. It's just one more thing to break so I'd ditch them.

I found two old corroded ones connected across the fans on mine - potential shorts now ditched.

The one on mine was round. So this is nothing to do with any safety factors? So I can fit the fuel pump without a suppressor (its just for radio interference)? Is there any spec to these suppressors or can you fit most types?

It is just a capacitor, unless you use a radio as above and it interferes with it, don't worry about it.

If they're nearly as old as the car they may look more like this, metal before plastic took over the World wink

Which ever or what ever you've got, they're not original, they're not needed, they're not necessary. As others have said, bin and don't replace.
