Soft rear section to glass and to targa panel

Looking to renew the seal between the rear roof section and the targa top and side windows
I think this is the correct seal:

But on my car there's a second piece of foam rubber against the door glass - possibly an afterthought or is this usual?

I've had three Wedges and everyone is different, using whichever strips of rubber were available or the previous owners thought might improve things. They all leaked to some degree when driving through heavy rain.
