Slow selling Wedge
Discussion
I do not seem able to shift my 280i fhc either...ok it is not a450 or anything but having tried allthe usual advertisers still not one call! I am only selling it to buy a 350!! Don't people know how much fun these cars are?
RE- newer TVR drivers...had mixed reactions, but you are right,a lot do not probably know what they are driving themselves,as long as it is good for pulling and they can throw the TVR carkey-fob on the table in the pub...

I haven't seen the ad, how much are you asking for it? Perhaps it is just too much. It must be worth something though. You could always :wince: sell it to somebody looking for a Tasmin racer, I would have thought.
Took me ages to sell my 280 FHC a few years back. Tried Back home event, adverts in sprint, adverts in autotrader etc, all to no avail. It was the local TVR dealer who I had talked to about the car who put a bloke my way who wanted a good condition FHC for the Tasmin challenge. I needed to sell the car to finance a house move, otherwise I would have kept it.
The problem with 280's is that they are perceived as a poor relation to the V8's, which is complete bollo*s. They are a great way to get into TVRs cheap to run and insure and as quick as most modern GTI's.
It is a shame that people do not recognise these cars for what the are, so the answer must be to inform people on what they are missing out on !!!
Also the current way that car insurers are looking at things, they put a hefty premium on drivers buying their first TVRs with no experience of driving these kind of cars, a 280 is a good way to get this experience in a relatively inexpensive way.

Ah, I remember it well! I had this great plan, see: buy a 390, sell the 280, avoid going bankrupt. Oops. Got the 390, took me a year to sell the 280 (36th Wedge ever built!). Asking price started at about £3500, it went for 2K.
Although I'd hoped it would go to a fellow Wedge-head who would love and cherish it, it fell into the hands of some geezer from darn sarf (innit) wot needed a race motor, and that. Last I heard it was in bits awaiting a roll cage, maybe it's finished now? The guy in question is on here, maybe I should ask him...
Problem with the 2.8 cars is that todays yoof don't want to get their hands dirty, so you're dependant on finding a guy (or girl!) of more mature years with a bit of technical ability and lots of free time; perhaps a divorcee?
I'd buy it, obviously, but first I'd have to sell my 390, and that could take a decade....
