headlight motor repair
Discussion
On the side of the motor there is a metal plate and behind this are a couple of contacts that are activated by a plunger that runs on a cog in the gearbox. There is a raised bit on the cog which pushes the plunger and this stops the motor in the correct position. Try cleaning up the contacts. Probably worth putting some gasket stuff on the cover as it's likely some water etc has got into the contacts. Hopefully this will fix the issue. Cheers Steve
I spent many happy hours!! not p**s about with the brass contacts and the plastic cog actuating parts. Yes it did work and does now and again, headlight raises, thinks about it and may or may not retract. So my advice replace the motor, I think the brass contact loses it's tension. My problem will be the actuating arm that's been welded to the motor.😣 J C.
