280i 2+2, loadsa questions :-)

Hello one and all
Not really posted here before but it seems more lively than other places i have visited, that's supposed to be a compliment:-)

I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with a few questions about my recently bought(sadly neglected) 1983 Tasmin 2.8 2+2

When are the instruments(bulbs) and switches(strange fibre optic device) supposed to illuminate?
What are the 2 switches next to the window ones(next to handbrake)supposed to do?
Does anyone remanufacturer the window channels/door tops?
What model name is given to the 4-speed box for when in pursuit of replacement bits?
Is Wedge a recommended place for various mechanical bits?
Was the original steering wheel covered? I've got it but worn to sponge stuff underneath and don't want to replace it.

From memory:

The fibre should light all switched in the centre console

The other switches are for electric mirrors

and yes I would recommend Richard at Wedge for bits

the 2 switches next to the window switches are to illuminate courtesy lights found in the footwells mounted in the underside of the dash.

They TVR vehicle construction team just used what was to hand.

Ive seen 3 2+2's inc mine and non are the same
Instruments wing mirrors etc

The joy of owning such a beast!

Your car has wing mirrors than Richard? Most of the ones I've seen have the mirrors on the doors....

Wing mirrors? Door mirrors? You don't know how lucky you are............some TVRs don't have any mirrors, although there are holes where they may have once resided :-)
