While driving home the light pods went down and wouldn’t come back up. All other lights work on the switch correctly.
Also, when I do the flash to pass function by pulling on the stalk the pods pop up and the lights are on.
Ideas?
If the fuses or relays were dead some or all the functions wouldn’t work, correct?

Bearing in mind that the Pods uppers/downers circuits work seperately from one another......For both Pods to fail at the same time there will be a fault in the headlight circuit that is common to both Pods....Please forgive my ignorance if you have already established this

You need to check the headlight motor control fuse, side/head switch, dip/main column switch and headlamp motor control relay.
You should view the below excellent webpage that has diagrams, explains everything and shows the components that I have listed above

Hi Charlie.

I would also check the diode...not sure where it will be on yours but you will need to contort yourself into the footwell upside down to find it...it could be soldered to spade connectors and fitted in to the relay/fuse board...

I think you guys are correct. I think the diode failed and the back feed melted the switch. It doesn’t feel right when you move it from position to position.

Had the same on a 350i many years ago and it was a loose delay in the passenger fiotwell. AA guy found it in minutes.
