After 6 months of ownership i'm kind of getting used to this now... i just fix one thing then notice something else that needs attention!!! Wouldnt swap it for the world though

The oil hoses on my 400 are starting to split at the ends and are begining to weep oil. By oil hoses i mean the ones from the pump > filter > thermostat > oil cooler and back. To my astonishment they are of the push fit/jubilee clip variety, not a swaged fitting in sight!!!! Are they all like this??????
Another thing that is stupid and frustrating is the fact that the two hoses to the cooler have been replaced recently but the rest havent... where is the logic in that!!!
It would be relatively simple to replace the hose+clips, but i would much prefer to have proper swaged hose fittings at the ends from a reliability/longevity point of view.
Has anyone done this? Is there a kit available somewhere? e.t.c ?

I've replaced mine with motorsport type braided hoses which can be screwed together to any length fitting type you choose. Generally these hoses are good for all fluids and +50 Bar depending on hose size. I also went up a size on mine to 5/8" bore from 1/2" bore which improved oil pressure by 1/2 a Bar! Depending on what kind of oil cooler / remote filter arrangement you've got will determine what fitting syou need on the end but I found the standard UNF thread type on mine. Depending on where you are in the country visit your nearest racing circuit as most have a number of small factors who'll happily make up pipes for you.

This was the first job i did on my 400 just after buying it.I replaced the hoses with 5/8 Mocal stainless braided ones, same push on fitments with no problems at all.You could fit the swaged fittings on the remote filter but you would have a problem on the cooler, really dont think there is anything to be gained from doing this.
Demon Tweeks is always a good source for bits !

Cheers guys.
Thanks for the link MC, was looking at Mocal in the demon tweeks catalogue but the link gave me a direct contact. I gave them a call but as i guessed they have no record of supplying hoses for a 'wedge'. They will make the hoses up for me though if i give them lengths and fitting types and they can supply a new stat with the screw fittings. I can have rubber or stainless braid hose too
I've also been thinking of contacting an ordinary local hose supplier but didnt get round to it today!
Anyway, the main problem i'm going to have is finding out what threads are on the car! Mocal kit seems to beBSP threads but they could be UNF as per matt's car. This is why i was thinking of going to a local supplier with the hoses in hand and saying "can you make some these please!".
Is there any easy way to find out what size fitting are fitted without taking them off and using thread gauges!?
Well i guessed as Dan commented i'm going to need to prime the pump if the hoses are of for any length of time, mmmmm

Just to say that the 390 had both UNF and BSP which made life a real dog. Ended up replacing the whole lot when the 520 engine went in. Make a not of exactly which pipe goes where as it possible to get them the wrong way round and this causes oil pressure problems and an oil shower when the filter is removed. The symptoms are low or no oil pressure. It will also take out the stat as well.
The push on fittings are good and the jubillee clips are just an insurance policy. I got mine from a local hydraulics company for about half the price of anywhere else but Think Auto/ Burton Power/Demon Tweeks etc all stock this stuff.

Thanks for this link, very useful.
If I want to replace all the fuel hoses to run down the outside of the drivers side (350i) does anyone know approx what I will need? I assume he 300psi injecion hose from think auto will do it but does any one know what diameter to use where?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I think i've now resigned myself to just replacing the hose with push on fittings/jubilee clips. Getting swaged fitting's is going to cost lots more and is seemingly more hassle than its worth!
Richard Thorpe will sell me the hose and wide stainless steel clips.
Thanks for the info guys!
