Hi all.. an update on having the 460i setup on the rolling road by Mark. The first problem was lack of traction, two in the car and Duncan in the boot got it under way. It seems V8 Developments have done a good job with there super engine, it sounded fantastic when doing 5000 rpm in fourth showing a speed of 145 mph, I new it was a good idea putting in the 2.88 Diff, I wonder what it would pull to in fifth, Mark said it would be ok to just under 6000 rpm. Any how heres the final fiqures, Max BHP 262, max lbft 290, the lbft comes in at 2000 rpm @ 280 rising to 290 @ 5500 rpm
A pretty flat curve I think.
Im sure having Marks Tornado ECU fitted at the same time made all the difference
If you ever get the chance to put your car on a rolling road, do it, it will scare the c**p out of you.
And whats crazy about having all this done, I still may sell it when I move abroad

This spec sounds very similar to mine, lightened/balanced 4.6, decked, stage III heads, full ACT manifolds/trumpets/plenum/throttle system. It put out similar numbers when it was new - loosened up since then and with other small mods I guess I've picked up another 15-20 bhp.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

Have you guys tried the latest twin / triple throttle intake set-up yet on this size of engine? I was looking at the latest bits from ACT and JED and both of which look rather tasty and according to Mr Heath his set-up (triple JED - Ally) released about 60Bhp?!!?
Now where did I put that spare intake......

I would have thought you would have got more than 262 bhp. Is there a big difference all round though?

Love to meet up for a blast

To be fair, the engine was designed for the triple in the first place but production problems meant it wasn't available so I used an ACT single throttle. The way to look at it is the extra HP and torque was sitting in the engine and was released by the triple rather than the other way around. It also took several sessions on a dyno to set it up.

Hi Bluewedge, I tried e-mailing you but it gets returned user unknown, Im surprised you thought the figs were low as Mark said Quote ( It would mash most cars up to 5ltr on the road ) due to the torque figs.

The cams used in race engines can create severe pulsing disturbance within the plenum (these engines are normally suited to direct injection bodies)the Triple set up has a much bigger volume which can help this, so its not just down to number of throttles, you certainly wouldn't gain 60 bhp on a TVR engine by just changing the plenum, multi throttles improve drivability as well as offer better breathing.
