Anyone used Mark Adams ??
Discussion
Got back from Mark Adam after a long day. I'd love to know what happened to the rest of you.
North Yorkshire Chimarea with the uneven idle - what happened? If it wasn't you injectors, what was it? I'd love to know.
mild2wild - did Mark sort you out? What was final run like? Spill the beans - please!
Me? - All Mark Adams did was confirm that Peninsula know their stuff. No improvement! Downside is that either my cams are sh@gged or my cylinder head isn't the one that is supposed to be there. OUCH!

Nacnud I know from first hand experience that your car used to go like shit of a shovel In 94' it certainly had a wild cam probably H234 wouldn't be supprised if it was in need of replacement. thats if it has n't been changed already.

Mark says I've got a very healthy engine and if it was a standard 390 it's something I should be proud of. I was developing a good bit more power than the warmed up Chim 4.0 and the same power as the stage 3 tuned, 460 HC (before Mark got his paws on it).
So it's not too bad at the moment!
Only real issues from the rolling road session are that A) my hydrocarbons are way high (twice MoT limit even with breather tube going into a condensation pot) - and B) with a SEAC engine I'm missing a potential 100bhp!!!!!
I've been told my SEAC's previous owner 'detuned' the engine to make it more drivable - Mark's suspicion is that they swapped the head and I'm now running a standard head with a hot cam; hence the bad hydrocarbons.
I'm also runing massive ignition advance which Mark couldn't believe wasn't pinking. Apparently, this also supports the 'wrong head' theory. Mind you they want to verify that the timing marks are in the right place.
Although Mark and Richard's money are both on the head being wrong, they also reckon that the same symptoms could be produced by a badly worn cam and want to check it's OK.
Result from the Mark Adams session ? Enjoy driving the SEAC! And when I want more power, see Peninsula and I ought to be get shed loads more power (at a cost).

Nacnud it wouldn't cost much to check out heads and cam , about 2 hrs labour without touching the heads. remove the inlet manifold & top cover, the inlet ports on SEAC heads is 47mm x 27mm if they measure this they are SEAC heads, if they are smaller you have a problem in that the inlet manifold will not match, this will have an effect at high rpm. If the cam is shagged Richard uses V8 Developments who can supply a good cam kit for about £350 which include vernier timing gear, as original SEACs have non adjustable, Patricks 420 among others use the Kent 218, theres an even better one available now.

2 Sheds, cheers for the great advice.
My cunning plan is to follow Marks suggestion and enjoy my SEAC. This winter, I'll get Peninsula to have a look and confirm what I've got under the hood. I'll be sure to pass on your hints and suggestions.
Then I guess it'll be replacement head / cam decision time.......
I've posted some iffy photos and an even more iffy set of words about my day at the rolling road on www.tvrcc-bristol.co.uk
