When did you last check your fuel lines and 1 mpg

Driving out of the West End this afternoon I noticed a bit of a petrol smell, I couldn't see any puddles in the rear view mirror and I was only about 15 mins from home so I decided to carry on home. About 5 mins from home the fuel guage started to plummet and by the time I finally made it home I had "used" 3/4 of a tank!
Petrol was pooring out from under the front of the car. When I opened the bonnet there was fuel everywhere - great big puddles and it was streaming off the sound deadening!
Anyway, I re-started the engine (very briefly!) and petrol spurted from the hose connected to the cold start injector. I was like a jet sprayer!
I had changed all the fuel lines when I bought the car, but missed this one - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Similar problem here, only with mine (400SE).
It was as the fuel lines pass through the wing and bend underneath the body.
Years of gentle rubbing against the outrigger eventually holed the metal fuel line.
The rubber outer surrounding the metal line ends just before that point. Seems like a bit of a design flaw to me. So look out for that one too.
Still I'm looking forward to improved fuel economy now

I would think the return is also pressurised because the pump will be pumping all the time, so the pressure has to go somewhere all the time.
I would assume the the pressure regulator in the engine bay "keeps" the pressure and the return line comes off the "exhaust" from this, and is probably just open into the tank. Therefore not much pressure. However I used high pressure hose all round (with one minor - but obviously important exception!)
