Russ, spot on
I have just checked the dials, and that's all the info from the oil pressure gauge. It's a VDO dial; from 0 to 5. Mine hovers around 2 when it's moving, and just above 1 on idle.
When it's at 2, it's in the centre of the dial (if that makes it any clearer)
Patrick.

Mine was about 40 psi from cols, dropping to just below 20 when hot.
since the oil pressure valve went pear shaped on a recient track day, I have had the switch replaced with an upgraded itel ( cone bearing as opposed to the origional cylindrical one ) and new Oil Pump gears ( in the front plate ). This has increased the oil pressue dramatically to about 50 - 60 when cold, and 40 - 50 when hot.
The oil pressure also increases quite rapidly when you rev the car compared to not making much of a difference with the old valve / gearing.
Don't want to worry you, but uprating the oil pump is notorious as a way to destroy the distributor drive gears (oil pump driven off the dizzy shaft on pre-serpentine engines).

Dizzy will be fine, it is the rest of the engine that will be ucked if it lets go.

What is Project-X???

when that breaks, Ill uprate the distributer ... however if project-X kicks off ... it will be replaced by a nice new engine anyway )
That's 12 psi pressure drop down a hose? That is an awful lot, is it possible the old hose was perished or blocked or something?

I've found that by increasing the hose size to 5/8" as opposed to 1/2" on the remote filter then this gave about a 1/2 a bar pressure increase! 350Matt
Ok, the wedge has stopped pissing oil out of the oil filter remote thanks to the guys at Peninsula on saturday morning. The oil pressure has setled down to a nice 50pis when cold and 45 psi when hot. and when you rev the engine now, the oil pressure hardly moves at all. The oil pressure relief valve was leaking oil, some was comming out of the threads and past the seals, the rest was bypassing the switch and not going anywhere.
Now though I have a chassis that will not rust ... its covered in oil !

Well A bar is 14.7 Psi so divide by 2 = 7.35Psi so not that bad, and yes the hoses were old but otherwise clean and clear, I just wanted to change over to braided type and decided to go up a size as that was what I had. Matt
