Is that Wyns old car? Don't think that will take long to sell.

It states in the advert it has the same chassis as a SEAC? The transmission tunnel on a SEAC is narrower though isn't it?

Nice car though..rare.

AFAIK the only special chassis fitted to a SE AC was by making it from SS. As an aside it's hard to think of anything unique as an identifier to the SE ACs aside from body shape - badges and price perhaps.

Yes and asking prices are crazy at the moment. £7K for this one and someone asking over five times as much for a SE AC.

And to think I was thinking of selling my 400SE a few years ago and at £8k I never had a bite ....

I think 7k is a bargain price for this rare car. It also seems in very good condition. People don't realise how much time, effort and money is needed to maintain a car like this in good condition considering it's nearly 30 years old. If I didn't have my Wedge I would have definitely been tempted.

Considering 350is start at £4500, isnt £7000 incredibly reasonable?
Would it be right to be very suspicious? Or do bargains really exist?

yes My old car.
These were taken 2 yrs ago just after the respray.....

It's probably the biggest hooligan of a Wedge I've ever had too. 4.4 litre big valve motor re built by J.E.Engineering. New gearbox etc.

Lot of wedges up at big money - in fact a lot of classic cars full stop at big money - but not many actually selling. 7k is probably a sensible price to sell the car without it hanging around too long. Looks very nice.

It's based on a 390SE. 6 customers wanted the 420 engine so they created the 420SE.......

The door beams & hinges were done during the respray.....(blasted & powder coated)

& the outriggers were nearly perfect......

How much to respray in any colour but red? Having been in two rollovers in red cars, my better half will not have a red car round the house. Solves any arguments about who drives what, but not conducive to domestic harmony. Pity, it looks a great car for that money.

I always fancied a wedge as a weekend thing after a friend had a 350i in the 1990's. I had a 4 litre Chimera for a while 10 years ago.

This 420 is just up my street (literally too - as it is just down the road from me !) I read Wyn's amazing 're-spray' thread, and his comments on this thread too, and all looks good.

I just wonder where the car has been in the two years since Wyn sold and whether it could still be as good as it was then. No reason for sale given and ad doesn't feel as if it were written by someone who loves the car. It is very matter of fact.

Also says 'good' condition inside and out. Would expect to see the word 'immaculate' given the first class re-spray only recently ? Unless the guy is under selling it ?

Looks good value but just not feeling a vibe. The other red one for sale (400 SE) on Car & Classic (£8,950) looks great. But £9k is a bit much for me.

Hmmmmm.........

Who knows? Why not just have a look at the car. (As for the wording of the ad could be one of a hundred things:- not good at selling, something else on his mind like divorce or a new toy like a Ferrari, done in a hurry and has lost job... )

An advert will only tell you so much, and how much is truthful is down to the individual selling it.
The best thing to do is view, preferably with an independent expert or friend.
All I know of this car is it was very well looked after & maintained when Wyn had it. It's also rare, so the money is right for this car..imo.
