ive just bought some polyurethane bushes band im slightly confused by the rear tie bar(A frame type suspension", the bushes are sort of cotton reel shaped, how the hell do they go in the hole (bush-wide at each end the small O/D is the same as the I/D of the tie bar)do they need splitting into two top hats like the A frame bushes?
Also the old front tie bar bushes had big shaped washers on them which are no good, are the poly bushes supposed to use these or are they just used on their own?
any help would be much appreciated, thanks Jon.

Can't help on the rears but the washers you are referring to needed replacing on the front when I did mine. Ford main dealer part off a Mk4/5 Cortina, cost a few pence.

I had exactly the same problem, ended up carving off one of the ridges with stanley knife and using plenty of washing up liquid (don't use grease as it may attack the rubber) wind it in with a bolt and washers.
