Too high a price?

I am currently looking at a 400SE in metalic dark grey/black, grey leather on a "H" plate, the car is very, very clean, average mileage with 2 previous owners and is being offered for sale at a dealers (non TVR franchised) for £11,495. Question, what do you think about this price? The car seems very well cared for, an due to my drool glands working overtime, my objective scruteny programs may be being over rided. Cheers Simon.

There is a red 400SE (H reg) in this months Sprint for £6,995. Described as good original condition.

Well, I'm not to sure about the colour, I've already got a Red Lotus, but the price is certainly much more to my liking. Do you think that the £11,495 that the dealer wants is a fair price? If so, do you think that this Red one is under priced, and why's that? I don't mind buying a car from either a dealer or privately, but at least you've got some come back from a dealer, but at what price, nearly double it would seem.

It sounds a bit cheap at £7k but the owner might be in a rush to sell. Any 10 year old car is going to valued on condition so without seeing either car I wouldn't like to hazard a guess. However I would have have thought £8-10k would get a reaonable 400SE.

Simon, is the grey one the one at Steve Reid's place? This looks like a wonderful car, well maintained and prepared. However, this car has been there for many months now. When it went on the site the average 400SE was around 10-12K so the price was right, but now I would offer 9K for this one.

Hard to say really. Bought mine for 9750 a year and 1/2 ish ago through a private sale and I have seen others in better condition. I was also looking at a 450SE for 13-14 ish at the time through private sale.
I would have thought for that price it has to be spot on?

£10,000 is as much as you need to spend, more than that and your into bottom end of Griffith/ Chimaera money. sometimes £7,000 cars are false economy. I sold a mint 1990 400SE a year ago for £9,000.

Have to say, spending Chimaera money - or near it - on a wedge sounds poor value to me, unless it's really special.
