Had some interesting fun on Sunday when the fuel pump / injection relays decided to go plop !

(Now need to enlarge glove box to take umpteen spare relays as well as 10 off each fuse rating ;o)

Eventually managed to get mobile again by directly feeding the pump via sidelights which got me home.

However I noticed that when I got home & switched the lights off the pump was still running so obviously the
relay problem is intermittent, only now its working I cannot tell which is problem one ( will of course swap both ).

The above created some odd problems though !!

1/ When I fed the pump directly from side lights ( with pump running ) she would still not fire due to the immobiliser having activated itself ( fob was turned off ). ( I have two of these 1 touch pad type & 1 key fob type )

2/ For some reason the r/h light pod has stopped working !! *** Have substituted all relays & 15 amp fuses are all fine

I'm sure all you wedge owners will appreciate that the electrics on most of these cars are complete sh*te however when you have a 'unique' version of a unique car it gets even better, my fuse board runs as follows :

0 = relay
x = fuse

n.b Fuel pump & main injection relays are on separate ECU loom to the above !


I'm gradually working out my own relay / fuse layout overtime but if anyone has same as above or any ideas
on the light pod issue I would appreciate a direct mail.

HI AGAIN TIM,I DONT SUPPOSE IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH A RELAY FOR THE INIBITOR FOR THE GEARBOX,WITH YOURS BEING AN AUTOMATIC?

Eh ?

Wouldn't have a clue! I thought the only inhibitor
fitted to mine was the silly little fuel tank ;o)

That appears to be the diagram from the 400/450SE handbook ?

Unfortunately my layout of fuses or relays bears no resemblance to the handbook. It's not even close !!

The only way I can make up a diagram is by laboriously pulling fuses / relays which is a pain. I believe my situation isn't helped by the LHD & all the extra
electrics/options which were added at the factory.

Gaining access to some of the fuses/relays & wiring is a complete joke & the general quality of the work is untidy to say the least if not v.poor !!

I'm sure that my light pod problems stem from something I've dislodged at the fuse box / relay end
allthough this could prove a real b*******d to sor.

Might be a long shot but have you asked the factory. If they modded yours somewhat the may have a clue?

Have spoken to factory in the past but they always seem very scetchy on details ( except the gearbox man who was very excited about the 5 speed ZF box specially buit for my car ). I think I'll just go down the tiresome route of making up my own diagram over time.
