This North Wales Section never seems to attract any real interest from anyone. Much has been done and suggested in the past but has never received much support. Soooooooooooooo I have decided to organise a North Wales Meet and Drive.

It will consist af a Meeting of those interested getting together at a reasonably central location such as Ruthin or another place. Having an interesting and challenging drive of about 170 miles with stops for coffee, photographs, and lunch etc. And finally a tyre kicking session.

It will NOT be a high speed drive but one in which any car enthusiast can take part. In other words a nice social occasion when those interested in cars, driving over some great roads, and an interest in the lovely scenery can enjoy.

Lets start the list - copy and paste then add your name:

I'll start it off

I presume you mean the Karting Venue? OK so you can organise that for maybe another day. We don't want to try and fill the day with everything possible do we??

Not having done a Meet for PH before I will stick to something in which everyone will be able to take part. I now run a Hyundai i30 CRDi so I'm now not quite so fast as when I had the S2000! Still fast enough though!

It will include at least 2 legs of the EVO and some nice roads that maybe some of the enthusiasts may already know.

I am looking at either the 2nd or 9th of October after all the tourists have disappeared.

Any comments or suggestions welcomed.

i think getting a spot of karting in as well would make for a very busy day! My only suggestion would be that while although the evo is a good stretch of road, doing it more than once is, IMO, where a run out turns into something a bit more "obvious" to mr plod. Not only that but there are (as im sure you know Adrian) lots of other great roads and scenery to enjoy

im very local so would be happy to make some suggestions for a route should you wish

Fair point on the karting, much as i love it, it would make the day very congested. Probably better to start off with a simple meet and run and do the karting at a later date when people have got to know each other a bit.
Either of the dates suggested in october is good for me, although i suspect there may still be a tourist or 2 hanging around, the numbers should be less.

For some unknown reason the Honda S2000 boys always want to do the EVO and the law is not always around. But why should you worry about the law? Are we not all upright law abiding citizens who drive sensibly, safely and within our own capability? As you may have noticed the dates I have suggested are Saturdays - there is a reason for that. Lets just say there is more traffic of all types on a Sunday! Nudge, nudge!!

I am also local, retired and have done so many drives for S2k that if I can't sort out a decent run there is something wrong. However, it would be a change for me if someone else wants to sort out the route, it will give me a rest and save me some fuel. If you want to incorporate some Karting please carry on. Over to you Snorkel Sucker! If you want me to continue send me your suggestions and I will see how they fit in with my already advanced plans.

One thing I haven't mentioned is that I DO NOT publish the route before the day. I give driving instructions out at the meeting place. Hope you all understand the reasons for this.

sounds like you have it all well covered!

i would imagine my suggestions will be very similar, if not the same as yours regarding the route, but i will PM you something across. Dont want to go stepping on your toes or anything, but more than happy to lend a hand

(your suggestion of a saturday had not gone unnoticed, either.... ;-)

Hi Mike
As this is the first NW run for some time and, in the interests of the members, I think we should limit numbers to about 12 or 15 otherwise the group becomes too conspicuous and more difficult to organise. I don't know how everyone else feels but I think a mixed class does not want a preponderance of one type of car and maybe on this occasion best to not put out more invitations. Add yourself by all means.
Cheers

Glad to see there are plenty of "passengers", means I will not have to lead providing they can understand my route details!!
