Welcome
As regards a car all depends on how much you have to spend.
One word of advice never ask advice on what car to buy on any internet forum you will just get confusedconfused with the conflicting answerslaugh
For what its worth a VW Polo is a pretty safe bet too

Your list will be endless but best bet is small engine and no trick bits...will only screw you on insurance, best just putting up with it for a year or so to build your NCD.

Try a 'local' search on autotrader / ebay and stick a maximum of £500 in, you'd be supprised what comes up.

anything that is small and cheap and less than 1.4 will be cheapish to insure. compared to others. NCD is No Claims Discount. The number of years you drive without claiming as long as you are the main driver on the insurance. IE not fronting or named driver etc etc.

Wouldn't knock them, sensible little car and cheap for running, repair and insurance. Do remember your insurance is going to cost you a small fortune and the likelyhood of breaking something is high.

I would recommend something like a 1.2 Corsa, Cheap on the insurance and would be good fun on the roads around here

Whatever car you decide to get, make sure and take your Dad with you to give it the once over, don't be fooled by shiny paint and assurances that it runs perfectly when it warms up.
Check out the cost of insuring it too, before buying.
Living in Rhyl, as you do I wouldn't get any thing too nice, as some scrote might nick it, get your Dad to fit a hidden ignition cut out to it.
