Hi folks,
I've a couple of days off this week and am hoping to drive up from Sussex (foreignland) to Snowdonia on Sunday or Monday (17/18 May) for 2 or 3 nights.
Can anybody comment on the Y Gwynedd Inn & Restaurant in Llanberis as a place to stay, and any special roads in the area that I should not miss out on whilst up there?

I accept that this is fairly short notice as I intend to book up on Sunday/Monday morning before travelling so
any (helpful) replies will be appreciated.

Hello,
A bit out of your way perhaps but suggest you book a night at the Groes Inn near Conwy. You might recognise it from the Evo photoshoots.Ideal for the "Evo triangle", excellent food, drink and (I'm told) accomodation. I think they have their own website.HTH.

Thanks for the excellent reply Huw,

I've just had a google for the Groes Inn near Conwy and it does look good - unfortunately I am a cheapskate and was hoping to keep costs under 50 English pounds a night (preferably well under).

The actual location is not an issue, anywhere within one or 2 hours drive of Llanberis will be fine.

Hello again. I don't really know Llanberis and environs but Llandudno is about 28 miles away and teeming with guesthouses and hotels to suit all tastes and budgets.

Edited because I couldn't spell "teeming" but trust me there's loads!

Thanks again for your response Huw.
The only reason that I thought of Llanberis is because I took a drive through their about 20 years ago ( Caernarvon to Capel Curig) and seem to remember that it was a fun drive in a Mk2 Ford Escort so should be even more fun with a V6 Mercedes.

If there are plenty of places in the area then I will just drive up until I decide to stop and then find a place to sleep.

Thanks again Mister Huw Jones
