Hi Johnbear,
I'm in North Wales next weekend, so unfortunately will miss the tour. It's my first visit and supposed to be more of a romantic break with my girlfriend, but I'm looking forward to enjoying the fantastic roads as much as I can get away with. I have heard that the traffic Police presence is fairly high. Any particular hot spots?

Ok Quinny there are some well made points.
North Wales has a total lack of any TVR events. I only started these tours as nobody else was doing anything. I fully expected others to pop up and organise a run out but no there's nothing.
I never expected to be running these things a year later.
So how about some help from all those North Wales TVR owners out there with orgamising these runs?
Anyway thanks for the honesty. I would have prefer an honest appraisal from Ash on the day as I do feel a little mislead unless he tells me otherwise.

I returned this morning from my first trip to North Wales, having enjoyed the best driving of my life. Conditions were fairly damp on Saturday and Sunday but the weather held out until it started snowing at about 4:00pm on Sunday.
I drove the Evo Triangle twice and explored the roads around Bala, Aberdyfi and Lake Vyrnwy. I can't wait to return.

Hi all,
would like to join you in one of these runs but have been woking the last two. Please let me know when the next one is.
As for pressure to "keep up" not something that applies to me. I live and work in this area and use these roads all year round so can experience them during the unsociable hours midweek.

The next tour will be Saturday 29th Decemeber aka the 'Xmas Run'.
All are welcome to join but this time we will split into 2 groups. It's advisable to hang with the second group if you haven't been on a tour before. You might think you know the roads, but many will be new to you and driving in group is different and requires real concentration to keep a safe distance.
There are now safety guidelines to help you have an enjoyable day. The only restrictions are no boy racers and no semi slick track day type tyres in wet / damp weather. Oh, and it's not a race but a day out with a pub lunch.
We start off at Shrewbury at Dobbies garden centre at 9.30 before heading into deepest Wales, we stop for a relaxed lunch, then more great roads, finishing at the Lion Quays outside Chirk around 4.30.
The route changes each tour so you don't get bored.

There isn't any criteria really.
Helpful if you have a car but even that may not be strictly necessary
Also helps if you're a social type of fella.
An exclusive club it ain't.
If they'll let Ash-man in they'll let anyone
in
Yes I have a car, I'm just a little concerned about whether the cars are Meguires-Zymol showroom condition 'all the time', and have noticed a lot of the cars in this local forum seem to be TVR's, and although my FTO has reasonable poke at 180bhp, from experience in an MR2 club, it's no fun running around in an mk1 N/A 125bhp chasing 300+bhp mk2 turbo's, and would not like to get to the same state of affairs, it's just utterly frustrating, what I'm getting at is there a good cross section of cars, rather than just top-end monsters. I do love TVR's though, great shame they went under.Helpful if you have a car but even that may not be strictly necessary

Sounds good!, glad you mentioned it's not a race, have been on runs before, and it's like your on a WRC Championship stage, far to fast for me, it's nice to see a bit a scenery now and again, rather than trying to avoid it! Will have to see how my diary is closer to the time, when do you need to know numbers for the run?

The odd thing with the North Wales tour is the selection of roads don't mean that's there's a great different arrivial times with the cars (5 - 10 mins). We did the back roads of Abersoch last March and there was little difference in arrival times.
All makes of car are welcome, but no novices / boy racers.

Gosh. I missed this one all because my Son decided to move home that day. As I had to go down to the Midlands there was no way I could make it.
I organise the Honda S2000 North wales Meet and the 2008 Meet will be the week end of 29 March. I will post more details later and if anyone feels thay would like to join us they can ask. The numbers of "other" cars are limited as we do not want to lose the main purpose of the day.

I have 13 years driving experience, I drive enthusiastically now and again, but by no means like a tit, although I have been called a boy racer,-(I'm pretty certain this is down to the type of cars I've had in the last couple of year, rather than anything else) Besides my car is too precious, as well as being my pride & joy and daily driver, to do any stupid rash things with it. If I can make it, I'll drop back in the second group, find my feet. Thanks for all the info!
