Speeding NIP - A5

I had a speeding NIP arrive in the post the other week, 74 on the A5 southbound between Cerrigydrudion and Ty-Nant, heading home late afternoon after a 5hr tab over Carnedd Llywelyn.
As I keep it down through the villages and it's single carriageway, I assume it's 74 in a 60.
Thing is I never spotted a van or PC standing with a laser gun. I've reviewed the dash cam footage at time of offence and still can't spot anything.
Have I missed an average speed trap or do North Wales Plod resort to parking behind walls/hedges ? I use this stretch about 5/6 times a year and know the spots where the van is usually parked (in plain sight).
NIP says I have to ask for a court hearing for disclosure of evidence against me, at cost of £130.
I'd be interested in local intel. I certainly won't be using this stretch again or putting any more coffers into the local tourist trade.

Usual spot for the van to wait is at the bottom of the hill (in the siding by the school) after the cutting. Very easy to miss especially if overtaking a slower vehicle on the 3 lane section.
Never known of any horse boxes used to catch speeders, that sounds more like scare mongering than fact.
The problem with this section is that it is an excellent overtaking spot (straight with excellent visibility), unfortunately the vehicle that his insisted on pootling along at 40mph through the fun bits will then tend to speed up on the downhill, so once you have committed to the overtake you can easily end up breaking the limit. Seen it, done it and got some T-shirts if you would like one.

As you will probably be aware, there was a time when N.Wales got a reputation for the 'traffic Taliban' under Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom.
This proved a PR disaster for both N.Wales (Tourism) and its inhabitants (Police Reputation), but some of his experiments in traffic policing did create some good copy in the media even when they didn't become widespread practice. The use of a news reference of a failed experiment from 2008 does not reflect a current reality I recognise.
Brunstrom departed in 2009, with the new chief firmly distancing himself from the policing methods of his predecessor. I recognise that the incident took place but, as mentioned, I have never seen such practices in use in reality, nor heard of any first hand experience of them from friends or colleagues. I stand by my statement and suggest that to infer that they are current practice is misinformed.

Dunno about the horse box 'cos I've deleted that section of the dash cam footage.
I remember being stuck behind some not very good bikers along that section. They were driving Miss Daisy through the twisty bits and then taking another 30yds to get back on the power when it straightened out. Hopefully they all got tickets aswell
Yep I know about the van sat at the bottom of the 3 lane hill after the cutting and it wasn't there on the day in question. I always bring it down to 60 cresting the bend.
I've seen exactly the scenario described, 5 back in a queue overtaking a dawdler down the hill and then spotting Plod with a hand held laser flagging down the Fabia VRS at the front...unlucky for him.
They also like the gap in the wall about 100yds past Corwen Fire Station which is still 30 and the Betwys Y Coed side of Penrhyn village with the long 40 section. I've actually been overtaken in this bit by a mini bus full of kids doing 60
