For the Porsche owners out there, what are you're thoughts on Mr Browns work, Hillington, regarding suspension set up ?
Feel that my 996tt feels a bit more crashy over the bumps recently ( mind you with roads like the surface of the moon it is hardly surprising ) so want to see if he can do anything with the set up. Maybe need bushings replaced ?

Am really tempted to make the run down to Centre Gravity in the Midlands, but it is a hell of a distance to go if Kenny could achieve the same results

Appreciate any feedback you may have
Cheers

I get mine done at Kenny's, it's the place to go in Scotland. If your car is standard though I'd spend the money at OPC with their laser sheeeiiiit !

Ps, Kenny broke two of my cars in the 90s, and I'll never forget that!
Does a good set up though and it's not very dear!
OPC messed up my non standard cars as they just pressed the buttons, they did however make my STANDARD car perfect!

Thanks for replies Gents,
I know I really want to get to Centre Gravity, but if can get same results in Scotland then no point in making the trek. My suspension is standard by the way.
Will have a word with OPC maybe. Just feel fleeced every time I go in there though !

As an opinion of Kenny's abilities, he absolutetly analysed and sorted out the geometry on the Civic plus giving the handling a bias towards cornering rather than cruising.
One side, front and rear were seriously out when I bought it. Rear end crabbing, steered out over any bumps and the tyres were getting torn apart. Only used eccentric bolts to sort the front end and adjusted the rear. Incidentally, replaced the front wheel bearing as well. All for reasonable money.

I am hopeful that I will get mine out of the driveway for the first time in 10 weeks for a trip to Edinburgh, providing it doesn't snow........

Willmac if you have a standard set up, definitely go to OPC, it was £264 before the vat increase and they use the best state of the art equipment, your car will be transformed.
I would love to have my car set up on that equipment, sadly they don't have anybody with the expertise to adjust the parameters (at Glasgow anyway as they really messed up my custom 993 Carrera) as I'd pay the extra every time!
Kenny Brown however did set my custom turbo up well but missed the fact I'd a fked shock, saying it just wasn't quite right. I however felt it regardless of the full race set up and when I replaced both rear shocks n springs n arms etc, he set it up perfectly!
Sometimes you're the best test driver of your own car and how a 911 should handle!

For a standard setup, I recommend Willie at CLCM in Edinburgh. He’s ex-OPC and owns a tiny garage space across town with the exact same laser rig as them. Very cheap, very reliable, and when the OPC get a tricky car to do (or get too busy), they subcontract to him anyway.

Centre Gravity are the best in the UK though, by a country mile. Chris did a better job on my car by eye and feel alone, trackside, then anyone else has ever managed with a laser rig. What he can do with his full equipment is stunning.

Having said all that though, my car’s in with Peter at Motortune having it’s alignment done today. He’s fitted a selection of new bushes around the front end for me this week and is sticking it on his laser rig before I collect it.

I can only talk for Chris who I've used a few times now.
If you're interested in actually learning about your suspension and even assisting with the work carried out, Chris is so passionate about his work he loves the interaction with the owner. If you decide to do this I'd wait till it's a bit warmer, he didn't have a very good heater in the workshop last time I was there !!
It is a long way to go, but I've always managed to tie the visit in with a holiday or something else, last time I also took my car to the Porsche Silverstone Experience Centre for a blast, excellent fun.

Booked mine in for a service with Peter for next month - is his geo any good as it would be good to get a one stop shop.

I’ll tell you after I pick the car up at the weekend!

Peter knows his stuff when it comes to race setups etc and has a full laser geo kit onsite, so I don’t anticipate any problems.

Will do, no worries.

For reference, Willie at CLCM only charges around £40–45 assuming that everything goes smoothly (he works on an hourly rate).

Do CLCM do suspension parts (bushes and mounts etc) or is it just alignment and set up?

Just alignment and setup. They used to do tyres as well but not any more.

After i do work on my customers Porsches or whatever vehicle that requires suspension set up afterwards i get John at Progrip to put it on his Hunters alignment machine, for geometry set up i am very surprised he has been overlooked on here.

Please do, there are new wheels and tyres going on the 928 soon. Looking at the tyres just now, and the handling, it is way out.
