Steve,

Where is the photo looking down onto the twisty road with the passing place sign in the foreground taken? It's seriously spectacular, Scotlands own version of Stelvio almost. Got to try and get there this year.

cheers,

It's on the Applecross peninsular (the highest mountain pass in Britain) Often closed in winter - full of caravans in August, but a great drive the rest of the time. here's a map

Ah, thanks, part of your "best of" route. Will make a concerted effort to get over that way now the car is back on the road.

thanks,

Kevin

Is that in the Dax? (nice domain name btw). If you do the applecross 'circuit' eary on a Sunday morning in May/June... the Dax will LOVE it. You can do the entire 45 miles without seeing a car* if you start early enough.

* except me of course.

Yeah, it's a damn shame i dont know how to put anything on the web page. One of these days...

Another good thing about that route is that we get to drive along Royal Deeside and over the Lecht just to get to the good bits! What more could you ask for.

Cant wait for decent weather now

decent weather? oooooh I WISH!!!! we went up north last summer in the westie but found there were LOADS of speedcameras on the main roads and the smaller roads were full of bumps/potholes and lots of "ouch" factor on the auld behind!! (bucket seats dont offer much in the way of padding do they?) can anyone reccommend any good roads to go this year? were also thinking of going to the Isle of man!

It's the same one used in Fort William! But only in the 30's and 40's though.
