Aberdeen reminiscences (mostly shops)
Discussion
OK, before I get on to the main subject, I'm trying to remember the name of a tea room above what is now the Trinity Centre. As I recall, it sounded like a foreign / exotic name. Any ideas?

I think Radars the ice-cream shop started off on schoolhill, possibly even with a spagetti factory, if you cleared a plate you got the next free. Radars on Belmont St was a great drinking / bikey / Rock chick hang out before heading to Ceasers Palace on Crown Street on a Sunday night for more live music.
Mabels cafe in Torry, Sir Laffalots near ship row, Dobies alehouse when they went through the live blues phase. I still miss the Venue, the minkiest, wetest, blackest, stinkiest carpet and watered down lager in town, but it was open til 2 and you could get in pissed after rolling out of the Moorings the back of 12 and watch Dr Feelgood et all live.

What was the name of the ice cream shop on King Street, close to the Pittodrie Bar?
Do you mean the shop that's now a Hairdresser's?I remember it was called Marchini's (later appeared for a short while in Mannofield).
What about Brian Sherrif's in John Street? Anybody remember the fire they had and the sale afterwards?

I remember that as a student, I complained that the second plate was only half the size...should have seen the waiters face when I'd finished that too then ordered an ice-cream pancake... It was bring your own wine/beer too...
