Well folks,

Car is fked again. Bottom end went last night at Knockhill frown

RAC recovered me back to my dads in Stirling so now I am left with the dilemma of getting the car back to Aberdeen. RAC won't do it, can't join the AA as it says on their website that they won't cover cars over 10 years old. So basically the only option I can think of is to try and find someone with a trailer who would be willing to collect the car and take it back to Aberdeen. Obviously all costs would be covered along with beer tokens. I know its a huge ask but its the only option I have at the moment.

Cheers
Jamie

If you're not getting anywhere, try here C.A.R.S they should be able to help you out, can't imagine they'll be cheap though!

If you can't find anyone else, mate of mine might do it. PM me the address you wanted it taken from and dropped off at and i'll see how much he will charge for it...

Are you sure the 10 year limit's not just for a vehicle membership? As far as I know there's not a limit if you get a personal membership that covers you for any car.
I've certainly used them several times on cars over 10 years old with Home Relay.

Kris, can you send me an email to jamieeastcroft@hotmail.com.

Car would be picked up from FK7 9LZ going to AB21 9JL.

I am pretty sure it says in the T&C's with the AA that even personal cover doesn't cover you for a car older than 10 years. That is the only reason I joined the RAC instead but they are absolutley no use at all.

The only vehicle limits in the T&C's for a personal membership are it's size and weight. A vehicle membership has an additional age restriction.

From the T&Cs,
Single Membership: Covers the Member, as driver or passenger, in any vehicle (within the limits specified on page 8);

Page8.
Vehicle specifications
Breakdown assistance is only available for cars, vans, minibuses or motorcycles which meet the specifications set out below.
Please note that “car, van, minibus or motorcycle” does not include, amongst other things, electric pavement vehicles, electrical wheelchairs, bicycles (including electric bicycles), any vehicle which cannot lawfully be used on the public highway and/or any non-motorised vehicle.
Maximum Vehicle Weight: 3.5 tonnes (3,500kg) gross vehicle weight
Maximum Vehicle Width: 7ft 6in (2.3m)

Additional vehicle specifications/restrictions applying
to Vehicle Membership only
In addition to the general vehicle specifications set out above, the following terms apply to Vehicle Membership (Please note: these are not applicable to Personal Membership):
b) Where only Roadside Assistance is held, the vehicle must be no more than 10 (ten) years old at the date of registration with the AA;
