As the title says, i'll be in the central Glasgow, the Merchant City area, on friday night with my g/f and looking to eat out somewhere nice. Cost not an really an issue provided we get value for money!

Thanks in advance.

Hi, depends what kind of food and type of restaurant you like I guess. Loads to choose from...

Amber Regent (Chinese)
Gamba (fish)
Lemongrass (Thai)
Two Fat Ladies (over in the West End so maybe too far?),
The Italian Kitchen.
Khublai Khan (Mongolia)

Have a look here, might be useful.

Enjoy.

Good places to eat in Merchant city that I've actually eaten in myself:

- Cafe Mao (asian fusion), very good food, a personal fave, have eaten in here 30+ times
- Berits & Brown (posh deli), actually do a very nice wine and olive/cheese/cured meat platters
- Italian Kitchen as said above, very good pizzas from wood-fired oven, great tiramisu
- Italian Caffe (owned by same people as Italian Kitchen), Italian tapas and wine, always busy and excellent risottos
- Pancho Villas (mexican), I've had great food and average food in here, seems to be improving though

However...you may struggle to get a table for this Fri in merchant city unless you're flexible with dining times, let us know where you went and what you thought of it!

La Tasca - Tapas lovely - Renfield street
Sizzlers - Steak - Merchant city
Kubla Khan - Mongolian (awesome) - Merchant City
Torna Sorrento - Italian - Woodlands road
Italian Kitchen - Italian - Merchant City
China Sea - chinese - Renfield street

All the above are smashing , special mention to Torna Sorrento - little italian family run great prices and food is out of this world.

Just home, went to the Living Room on Friday night, the food was excellent, particularly the sea bass, though £48 for bottle of Rioja was a bit rude.

Lunch this afternoon at Gandolfi fish, Albion Road, again food was excellent.

Thanks for the tips.
