Right, seeing as the other thread is now down to politics, let's have a thread to actually organise a Scottish Meet.

I reckon somewhere around Livingstone would be good for a start point.
Input and suggestions most greatly appreciated. Everyone should have their say on this one.
Livingstone is not a bad start/rendezvous point, but it's kinda neither fish nor fowl - Falkirk/Stirling is better for the Highlands, Lanark/Biggar for the Borders...Input and suggestions most greatly appreciated. Everyone should have their say on this one.
I guess it should be a Highland run if it's turn-about...
Cambeltown?

eek! Livingston! I really dont like that soulless place, Linlithgow would be better
I suspect bias! Is there a suitable meeting point?
Suspect my Dad would then sneak out to join up.
For meeting the best place would be either the Tesco/rail station car park or perhaps beecraigs country park.
no bias! Its 60 miles away from me these days! (I could nip back to the folks house for food and drop off my washing though )
the palace car park
That might be a bit small if it was big meet though, nice setting though. Failing that theres the sports centre car park on the outskirts which is pretty big and probably empty, Or the ever so classy Sainsbury car park or if its the weekend the Academy bus park is huge as is the car park round the side.
Failing all that Giffnock in Glasgow would suit me fine

The problem is the size of Scotland.
If you are having a run, and your meeting point is Livinston or anywhere else in the central belt, it puts other folk at a disadvantage.
For example, I considered the joining the tunnel run, but tryin to get from Aberdeen to Biggar for 10.30, would take some going, then driving all day then the drive home, it just isn't feasable.
A run to the Highlands, is better for us up north, as we can get to Inverness through some interesting roads, and then take it from there.

Linlithgow
Would suit me better too, I could drop in at my folks for a coffee.Suspect my Dad would then sneak out to join up.

There aren't many destinations where Linlithgow is a sensible waypoint for those coming from the West or North.
We need a destination/lunch-spot first I reckons.
Is Campbeltown stupidly far away? I've never been, but it looks like a good drive...
No I reckon Livingston would be a good start, near to the lang whang, a great road, plenty of car parks to meet, do the odd wheely (in safety) mid central belt (not much we can do about those heelan folk) And of course its the home of a well known exotic car hire company. The only place big enough to meet in Linlithgow is Linlithgow Loch and thats a tad damp!

I haven't been there for quite a few years (and it was on a m/cycle), but it's a bit of trek and a bit out on a limb. This is the place where we went into the pub and the barman said "you'll be the boys that are lost then?". Seriously.
For a run over that way, the road after the rest and be thankful towards Inverary is really nice in parts, ok up to Lochgilphead.
Nice brewery at Loch Fyne too: http://www.fyneales.com/ (going there this w/e, Pipers Gold is nectar )

The only place in linlithgow big enough would be the academy car park but would only be available at the weekends. All of the other linlithgow car parks are pretty much full by 8am and stay that way until at least 5pm.
Stirling services by bannockburn is a useful meeting point with ready access. Its where we all met and talked for far to long for the Oban run last year.
