Or something very cheap...My friend's car died the other day and he needs something to as a daily driver. We are going to hit Shotts auction on Thursday but I thought I would see if anyone had a car they were looking to get shot of for nothing or for very little...worth a go!

i am no auction expert, but my office is right next door to one of the aberdeen car auction sites. often wander over for a gander on a bored afternoon. Noted that the repossession cars dont have a reserve, we saw a well kitted out 750i go for £430. but there are a few sheds go for sod all.

But for very little the local rags always have something, with a bit of MOT/Tax, assuming your talking a few hundred quid?

If you can get over the BCA Glasgow, that's a much better bet. Miles more stock and a bit less...err...wild west?

Not sure what it's called but I went to the old BCA one just outside Wishaw, and saw a 944, that I'd rejected the previous week on the grounds of having not been declared a Cat C, simply run through again with the write-off still undeclared.

You could almost hear the duelling banjos over the tannoy system.

You could be in luck.

I've got a silver '98 Renault Clio RN that I need shot of.

It requires tax and an MOT and probaly two front wishbone bushes, but otherwise it's a good runner. I replaced it with a Golf and never got round to selling it.

PM me if you are interested

What does your friend class as cheap?

I know a friend is selling a Vectra with 6 months mot and tax for around the £600 mark but i'm sure he's open to offers.

Can ask for details if you're interested?

I have a 98 Civic Vtec Aerodeck for less thatn a grand. Bullet-proof, 158k and in silver. I had a few workhorses and got rid of the better condition cars to keep this as its so reliable, quick too. Owned for the majority of its life.

Anyone???

He still hasn't got something. While we were at the auction he got a call saying he could borrow a yellow Fiesta van for a couple of months. I'm doubting that the van will be insured so I've no idea how he could drive it. Rest assured I won't let him use it without insurance.

The auction was full of members of the public (the day time ones are much better) so the bid prices were getting a bit silly!

Plenty of stuff on Auto Trader

P Reg Megane, MOT & Tax, 90k miles, £300
K Reg Audi 80 2.0, MOT & Tax 140k miles, £379
K Reg Merc E200, MOT & Tax, 190k miles, FSH, £395
R Reg Astra 1.6, MOT July, 92k, £395
98 Passat, MOT & Tax, 114k, £500

Passat and Merc well worth looking at.

Passat is in Glasgow and the Merc is in Edinburgh (333 number, I think that's Ratho-ish)
